Today was not an easy day for little monkey Levy. As usual, he wanted all of his mother’s attention. Whenever the other baby monkeys came close to play, Levy pushed his way in front of them. He wanted the best spot beside his mum, the first taste of food, and all the cuddles for himself.
In the morning, Levy noticed a smaller baby monkey struggling to climb onto a branch. Instead of helping, Levy ignored the little one and rushed ahead to show off his climbing skills. He felt proud of himself and thought being the strongest and fastest was all that mattered.
A few hours later, Levy faced a problem of his own. While jumping between branches, he slipped and found himself stuck on a low branch above a muddy puddle. He was frightened and called for help. To his surprise, the little monkey he had ignored earlier came over. Even though Levy had not been kind, the baby monkey stayed nearby and helped attract the attention of the older monkeys.
Soon, Levy was safely rescued. Sitting beside his mum afterward, he felt embarrassed. He realized that kindness is more important than being first, strongest, or most popular. If the smaller monkey had decided not to help, Levy might have remained stuck for a long time.
The experience taught Levy a lesson he would never forget. True friendship is built on caring for others, not on showing off or thinking only about yourself. From that moment on, Levy tried to be more patient, helpful, and thoughtful toward the other monkeys.
Although it was the hardest lesson he had learned, it became the most important one. By the end of the day, Levy understood that kindness always comes back when you need it most.
